What is small text?
Small text, also refers
to as a mini-text or tiny text, is a combination of Unicode characters that
look similar to the small font. If you want your text messages, social media
profiles, and email to stand out, small text is a must-have! But, making up a
small text all by yourself can be a tiring task, therefore, you need a small
text generator to do this job for you!
JustFreeTool's small text generator will convert your every text into a small one. It is a highly easy-to-use small text generator that you can use anywhere, anytime. However, there are still a couple of things you should know before you enter your text in our small text generator. If you want to know all about our small text generator, Unicode, subscript, tiny text, and much more, just keep on reading!
Unicode
In the 1980s, a non-profit organization came up on the surface
that is now known as a Unicode. As the name indicates, this organization is
used to "unify" the "codes" present in the characters of
the text. When I say "code", I mean only numbers. Computers know numbers.
Therefore, it is your duty to tell them which number is the alphabet
"a", which one is "b", and so on. In this way, you can read
the full text on your screen rather than just zeroes and ones. The problem with
this specification was that no specific numbers were assigned to the alphabets.
Different programmers used different numbers for each alphabet and whenever
they tried to communicate with each other, they had to translate the text
first. From then, Unicode tried to solve this issue by making a universal
"rule book" that contains the same numbers as letters.
But, what does all of this have to do with generating small
texts? There were several people who didn't like Unicode specifications as much
as they should have. They wanted some different kinds of characters that
Unicode didn’t offer in its previous specification. Thus, to comply with all
the organizations and programmers, Unicode came up with hundreds of different
kinds of symbols, languages, and arcane legacy systems that those programmers and
organizations may need.
In its journey, Unicode picked up a bunch of symbols, alphabets,
and numbers that can be combined to form small caps, superscript, and subscript
characters. When you paste your text in the small text generator, you may only
see a few alphabets but 130,000+ symbols get combined by the Unicode standard
to get you that small text.
Thus, if you think that small text is a font just because it
looks different, you're so wrong. That is not actually a font but a combination
of small text characters or symbols. People generally believe that small characters
are quite different from normal characters so they must be some kind of font
but, then again, emojis are different too!
Fun fact: Emoji are also
Unicode's characters. I know, right? Thus, you can paste any kind of text in
our small text generator and get a text that you can post on several social
media platforms or basically, anywhere you want!
Superscript
Superscript characters were presented to Unicode specification
to be utilized in phonetics, mathematics, and other related disciplines. Such
professionals can use superscript to type equations and other sorts of
calculations when LaTeX or HTML aren't available, for example, in messaging
systems.
At first, there were only three kinds of superscript characters
present in Unicode: ¹²³. The rest of the numbers that can be beneficial during
calculations were developed after those characters: ⁺⁻⁼⁽⁾ⁿ. After this, we got
all the Latin characters except for "q". You may wonder that why
Unicode just leaves that symbol out? Probably, because, it wasn't supposed to
be a superscript character in the first place. In fact, no alphabet was
intended to be a superscript character. They all dived in to fulfill a certain
purpose. But, it would've been nice if they just popped this one too.
If you're using HTML, you can create an easily rendered text by
using the sup tag rather than using the aforementioned fields. Like
this:
Example
Since "q" isn’t available right now, you can use "ᵠ"
instead. If you think there can be a better character to use instead of this,
let us know!
Here's the list of the superscript alphabets used by our small
text generator:
ᵃᵇᶜᵈᵉᶠᵍʰᶦʲᵏˡᵐⁿᵒᵖᵠʳˢᵗᵘᵛʷˣʸᶻ
Small Caps
Small caps have been around for quite a while now. They have
been utilized in the printing area for several hundred years. They have either
been used by linguistics or as an alternative to capital letters that may
render the reader with some confusion such as long acronyms.
As you can see, the small caps text of the Unicode specification
is probably the most "complete" of all the sets used by the website
engines. However, the letters – Q, X, and, S – don't pass as correct but
they're still acceptable.
You can use this below mentioned code to produce small caps with
CSS and that too within your HTML file:
<span
style="font-variant: small-caps;">Testing 123</span>
<span
style="font-variant: small-caps;">Testing 123</span>
As already mentioned, people usually consider this small caps
text as a font whereas it is just a set of characters or
"glyphs" of small caps. However, if you're looking forward to using a
font that can be integrated with small caps, you can do that with lots of them.
There are many fonts that help you to do that in an "inferred"
manner. For instance, if small caps characters aren't exclusively present in
your font then your browser or word processor will automatically change the
Latin characters into those symbols that may resemble small caps. However, such
small-cap characters may not look as good as the other ones that are created by
this small text generator.
Here is the list of the alphabets that our generator uses:
ᴀʙᴄᴅᴇꜰɢʜɪᴊᴋʟᴍɴᴏᴘǫʀsᴛᴜᴠᴡxʏᴢ
Subscript
Subscript characters are a part of the Unicode specification that
doesn't offer a full list of alphabets. However, this kind of text still
doesn’t get used in most industries. But, we're still hopeful that Unicode will
provide us with the remaining alphabets soon enough. Let's see what this
generator does to your text to make it into subscript.
ₐᵦ????????ₑ????????ₕᵢⱼₖₗₘₙₒₚᵩᵣₛₜᵤᵥ????ₓᵧ????
See? We had to fill in the blanks by using some other Unicode's smaller letters. But, if you're bent on making a full subscript text, we suggest you avoid using the alphabets B, C, D, F, G, Q, W, and Z. It really is a challenge, isn’t it?
On Reddit
Reddit gives you an opportunity to convert your plain text into
something that has bold, italics, and other formats just like what we have seen
in superscript. Let's see how you can add a superscript text on a Reddit
comment.
This
text will be normal^ (and this text is superscript)
Once, it was possible to add as many superscripts as you want in
the Reddit comment section. But, with the new version, the website has disabled
this feature and you can only add a small number of superscript texts. If there
are no spaces present in your superscript text, there is no need to add
brackets like this:
1000
= 10^3
Tiny Letters
Tiny letters are considered to be a mix of both small caps and
superscript letters. These are the smallest letters in Unicode and it
doesn't even have a proper alphabet list! All it contains is: ᶦ ᶧ ᶫ ᶰ ʶ ᶸ. The
best thing that this specification can do is to give you an acronym for "I
love you" as: ᶦᶫᶸ. Looks like you have to resort to other texts to make
your social media post.
Now, there are a couple of questions that people asked us frequently. Let's get onto them.
Where can you post small text?
You can post your small texts basically anywhere you want. You
can post it on all social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
Discord messages, Tumblr, YouTube comments, etc. You can also post your small
text in blogs, articles, and other forms of writing.
However, some websites don't approve the use of small texts in certain areas such as your bio, username, or maybe some of your posts. Alas, we can't do anything about this issue because the website owners solely control what textual characters should go on their websites and what shouldn't. They probably want to remove the hassle of "problem characters" by blocking the small text. But Facebook and other big sites allow you to post these characters mainly because it has a lot of users who don't speak the English language. Such users need the assistance of these small texts.
How to use our small text
generator?
It is very easy to use
our small text generator. You will get a small text and a superscript in mere
seconds. All you have to do is copy and paste your text in the required field
or you can directly type in your text. The results will automatically pop up. You
can either download the results or copy them to clipboard.
